Data science is a practical science that focuses on studying and analyzing data. Data Science is a very important part of our digital and “big data” age because there is so much data to work with. Data gives important information that can be used to make important decisions in many different industries.
As an example, let’s look at how online motorcycle taxi services that we use every day use Data Science. Online motorcycle taxis, as a service provider, keep track of every transaction we make on our phones. This includes the type of food we order, the type of car we drive, and so on.
All of these transactions with customers are pieces of information that need to be looked at and studied. Because of this, business decisions are made that are thought to be better for the company, like the type of promotion, price, and others.
The more accurate the analysis of the data, the better the decisions made, and the more money the business makes. This is the best example of how important it is for businesses to use data science. In fact, you don’t just need data science in business, buddy!
Data science is a branch of science that can be used in many different fields. Data Science can be used in more than just businesses like the one above. It can also be used in health, government, banking, finance, manufacturing, marketing, and many other fields.
Because of this, a Data Scientist usually has degrees in Engineering, Health, Journalism, Law, Economics, Sociology, Chemistry, Pharmacy, and other fields, in addition to Data Science. For the same reason, Data Science was only studied in the past at the Master’s or Master’s level, with different types of undergraduate education.
Before there was an undergraduate Data Science Department or Study Program, people who worked with big data came from a wide range of educational backgrounds. Data Science can be studied through a number of majors or study programs, such as Informatics Engineering, Mathematics, or Statistics because it is interdisciplinary or crosses over into other fields.
Data science is basically the study of both structured and unstructured data. Demographic data and financial data are both types of structured data. While data that isn’t organized, like videos, photos, emails, social media, etc.
Data Science looks at quantitative or numerical data, which is also studied in Statistics, Actuarial, and Mathematics Study Program or Department. Business Intelligence focuses on visual data and descriptive statistics, while Informatics Engineering studies data architecture and Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL).
We can, of course, learn more about Data Science if we have a department or study program for it. Also, software engineering is not the same as the programming skills needed to process data.
Data science is the study of how to use technology to turn raw data into accurate information as quickly as possible. But there aren’t always ready-made formulas, algorithms, or models that can be used to process certain kinds of data. So, a data scientist needs to know how to write code.
